Helping Steampunk decide what to sound like since 2017
the steam powered radio available from here
(ok so it's not strictly steam powered and not strictly a radio)
Walkingnorth
"Aerial Magic," is atmospheric soundtrack music to some kind of web cartoon thing that might be very steampunk but not a lot is coming across in the music.
Wandering Cellist, the
My step-grandpa was a cellist, quite a good one I understand and so I do like to keep a sound out for the instrument. Cello driven metal inspired soundtracks.
Wark
kind of acoiustic POink Floyd Feel.
Warring Triad, the
Quite frenetic Tully kind of instrumental
Wasilewski, Lukasz
Polish, epic, music for an unreleased steampunk game apparently. The games were never completed but concept art for the Barron is pretty cool
Water Low
Quite electronic, quite Ladytron with touches of Schmoof.
Wattingers, the
Exeter based bad country music. Imagine a provincial Crime and the City Solution. Significantly more impressive as a live act than the recordings I have found online. Full on deep south Mormon blues. Could be the house band if they ever remake True Blood and base it in Basingstoke
Weible, John and Davies Ryan
kind of a more classial tubular bells
Wernick, Steve
Imagine an Australian singer songwriter trying to merge the Jam with Billy Bragg.
Wet-Glass RO, the
Quite Sarah Records kind of Indy. Perhaps they have sewn cogs on their duffle coats. That's not to say I don't like it, I love Sarah. Can be more experimental. Some very harpsichord heavy stuff
White City Rippers
Theremin and accordion. What's not to like
Williams, Christian
Perfectly listenable banjo lead Americana which is probably perfectly age appropriate and inspired by the American steam vehicles but as a British steam punk I guess it is a bit like side walks and diapers, it says nothing to me. If you like country mind check them out.
Wimshursts Machine, the
Italian acoustic eight piece orchestra apparently. Imagine a steampunk clannad. A good 4 cogs
Wintergarden
Dark Danish autotune. Not very Goggley but rather good in its own right.
Wolfe, Valentine
Appears to have recorded a concept album of Shakespears "Winters Tale." "Intermission," had elements of the Harry Potter theme tune I am informed. Instrumental predominantly with some vocals that act as an instrument rather than narrative.
The Tempest is more of the same ambience
Woods, Doug and Powell, Colin
"The Absurdiam Fog," is rather nice ambient electronics that they would like you to believe is prog.
World is Square, the
"You gotta sprite for you right to party," is nice and chirpy pagan prog
World Warriors, the
Quite metally prog instrumentals
W.O.R.M.
very Play it Again Sam industrial metal- I didn't tag them!
